derivative control
Definition
A process control strategy in which the output of the process is proportional to the speed with which the input changes, such as a shower that raises the water temperature faster if the hot water control is turned farther, or slower if it is turned more gradually. Applied to business process improvement, this method can prevent negative overcorrections or overreactions to defects in a process.
