The development of methods for gathering information about systems with one or more variable factors. The design of experiments is the process of setting up series of tests in order to determine what outputs result from different combinations of inputs. The design of experiments can be used to understand business processes and determine improvement strategies, by demonstrating in advance which factors can be changed to produce improvements in quality.
