doctrine of fair use
Definition
Restriction on the exclusive use rights of a copyright owner. Doctrine of fair use allows making copies of the original for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (use of multiple copies for classroom use), or research. Also called fair use doctrine.
