Definition
Continuous-tone output technology that produces near-photographic quality color prints which are (in some cases) better than those produced by a four-color commercial printing press. However, this technology requires expensive ink ribbons and paper, and does not reproduce text and line-art as well. Also called dye-diffusion printing.
