electromagnetic radiation (EMR)
Definition
Radiant energy created by accelerating electrons or photons, traveling as waves and existing as gamma rays, infrared rays, radio waves, ultraviolet rays, visible light, and X-rays. Some studies suggest that long-term exposure to EMR caused by electromagnetic fields that surround high voltage power lines may cause brain cancer, leukemia, and miscarriages.
