essential function bond
Definition
Municipality issued bond to raise funds for government office buildings, roads, schools, libraries, parks, prisons and other governmental purposes. Any interest from municipal essential function bonds are not subject to alternative minimum tax (AMT) and are exempt federal income tax. See also municipal bond, traditional government purpose bond.
