Definition
Temperature scale in which water boils at 212 degrees and freezes at 32 degrees. It has been replaced by the Celsius scale practically everywhere except the US. Developed by the inventor of the mercury thermometer, the German physicist Daniel G. Fahrenheit (1686-1736).
