Definition
Duplex stainless steels intermediate between austenitic and ferritic types in terms of alloy content and structure, and having higher tensile strength and yield strength than both types. Used mainly in on-land and offshore oil and gas extraction and refining industries, and where high resistance to dynamic stresses is required.
