first-page-out time

Definition

Time taken by a computer printer to print and deliver the first page in the output tray after receiving the print data from the computer. Measured in seconds, this period depends on the (1) complexity (amount of color, graphics, types, etc.) contained in a print job, (2) size of the printer's internal memory, (3) time to start the motor driving the paper path, and (4) time to warm up the print engine.
