European term for hotel room rate offered to guests who take all their meals at the hotel. In UK, for example, it would include morning tea or coffee, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or coffee, and dinner. This rate is typically confined to a reduced menu and does not include a la carte dishes. Also called en pension rate. See also American plan and half board rate.
