A surge in activity in a specific area by individuals seeking to capitalize on newly discovered gold present in the area. During a gold rush, workers will migrate to the area where gold has been discovered and work aggressively trying to collect as much gold as they can. One of the most well-known gold rushes occurred from 1848-1855 in California as thousands of individuals migrated to the area with the hopes of finding gold and becoming wealthy.
