Metric (SI) unit of absorbed radiation, equal to 100 radiation absorbed doses (RAD). It is defined as the dose of 1 joule of radiant energy absorbed per kilogram of matter. Named after the UK pioneer of use of radiation in cancer treatment, Dr. L. Harold Gray (1905-1965).
