Definition
Securities industry term for gross income. It is computed as the difference between what the buyers (investors) pay for a security and the amount received by the issuer of security from the sale proceeds. This difference represents the underwriter's fee, issue manager's fee, and the discount offered to a security selling firm. Also called gross yield.
