health insurance exchange
Definition
A state provided health insurance plan that is federally subsidized. An example is President Barack Obama's health care reform to help more people afford health insurance and spread the risk between the insurance companies and the state and federal government. Health insurance exchanges are not able to exclude people due to pre-existing conditions.
