heat exhaustion

Definition

Buildup of fatigue that may lead to fainting. Heat exhaustion results from low blood pressure and low blood volume due to dehydration (loss of body fluids and salt) from abnormal or unaccustomed exposure to heat. Drinking of large volumes of salted water, or re-hydrating fluids, quickly followed by medical attention is crucial.
