heavy lift vessel
Definition
A craft designed to load and unload heavy cargo. The ships can be customized in order to equip auxiliary cranes for loading on conventional ramps or they can have semi-submersible capabilities to accommodate float-on/off operations. Typically, a heavy lift vessel can haul up to 100 tons.
