hidden taxes
Definition
Any tax levied on a consumer good without the consumer's knowledge. This typically occurs along the production process of any good, where some tax will always be levied, and therefore raise the total cost of the goods sold. This is never revealed directly to the consumer, who will pay the higher price for that good, without knowing what the true proportion of that cost is actually due to taxation.
