hypothesis test for variances
Definition
A hypothesis test, or test of two contradictory potential solutions to a problem, in which the variance between samples from different populations is tested to see if it is statistically significant. Determining whether a significant level of variance exists in the samples helps the experimenter to decide whether to accept or reject the hypothesis.
