Definition
Serious health threat that may impel a food or sanitary inspector to force an immediate closure of the food processing operations. Such situations are triggered, for example, by sewage backup, breakdown of refrigeration system, or an outbreak of communicable diseases (gastroenteritis, hepatitis, typhus, etc.) in the vicinity.
