informal tax legislation process

The process by which citizens, acting individually or collectively, attempt to influence the outcome of the formal tax legislation process by making their views known to legislators. Citizens and groups employ various methods to communicate their views including individual contact with legislators, town hall meetings, petitions, ad purchases, contributions to advocacy groups and through the election process.
