injury independent of all other means
Definition
In an accident or health insurance claim, an injury or medical condition that is pre-existing cannot be attributed to any other cause. For example, a person who has been diagnosed with cataracts that will lead to blindness, and who is blinded suddenly due to an accident, cannot recover for the loss of sight due to the accident because it merely hastened the loss of sight.
