lead pipe
Definition
An instance in which a sale or trade is almost 100% certain to take place. This also refers to an easy business operation or one that is virtually guaranteed. The origin of the term may be related to a plumbing metaphor, in which a lead pipe attached to another part of the piping makes a secure joining. Also called layup.
