lead user
Definition
A specific type of user of a product or service that is on the leading edge of significant market trends. There is a strong incentive to find solutions to meet the needs of these users. When development of products or services are completed, they often become important commercially as user needs become the mainstream. The term was coined in 1986 by Professor Eric von Hippel.
