malice
Definition
Deep seated desire to see someone suffer, expressed in commission of a wrongful act without just cause or excuse (legal justification) and with the intent of inflicting injury or harm. Wanton or reckless violence where the perpetrator should reasonably have known that injury or harm would result are also termed acts of malice. In defamation, a malicious intent invalidates the defense of fair comment and qualified privilege.
