measurement system analysis (MSA)
Definition
A statistical experiment designed to detect sources of variation in measurements. Processes used to measure parameters may include defects that cause problems with production processes. A measurement systems analysis may be performed in order to test the effectiveness of measurement techniques, or to identify defects in measurement as a source of observed problems in the outputs of a process.
