merger mania
Definition
A short period of time when companies decide to acquire and merge with other similar and smaller companies and create a larger expanded company that will be able to be involved in some of the activities that it could not previously perform had it not merged with the smaller company. Airlines, banks, and telecommunication facilities have been involved in this type of activity.
