Subjecting each part of a given piece of work to close analysis to eliminate every unnecessary element or operation, as a means of approaching the quickest and best method of performing the work. It also includes formulation of incentive schemes, and improvement and standardization of equipment, methods, operator training, working conditions, etc. Also called methods engineering.
