methods-time measurement (MTM)
Definition
A means of establishing performance benchmarks for manual tasks in a production process. Methods-Time Measurement uses statistics and research to assign durations to each physical movement involved in a task, and uses these durations to calculate baseline standards for evaluating the performance and effectiveness of workers.
