Definition
The lowest amount of money required to invest in a mutual fund either to open a new account (minimum initial purchase) or deposit into an account already in existence (minimum additional purchase). This is set by the financial institution that operates the mutual fund. also called minimum initial purchase and minimum additional purchase.
