monetary unit principle
Definition
A generally accepted accounting principle under which a company reports their financial position to shareholders and the Securities and Exchange Commission. In the monetary unit principle, accounting is done on transactions expressed as units of currency, such as the U.S. Dollar, the UK Pound Sterling, the Japanese Yen, etc.
