names

Members of the Lloyd's insurance underwriting syndicate (see Lloyd's Of London) who do not participate in the underwriting process but provide risk capital, and share in the profit and loss of the syndicate. Each 'name' is directly liable to the syndicate's policyholders in proportion to his or her investment. See also name.
