non-stock inventory
Definition
Any item in inventory that is not tracked by a perpetual inventory computer system. Often, these are items that the business does not sell but are required for internal operations. Sometimes, these could simply be one time purchases that are not worth entry in the perpetual system but still need to be accounted for and tracked. In such a case, the item will not have an item master record or an SKU number in the database. Yet, it still will exist as business property for record keeping purposes.
