normal deviate
Definition
The value of a variate (a variable for which values occur corresponding to a frequency distribution) measured from a mean, and expressed in terms of the standard deviation of the distribution. A standard normal deviate is a normal distribution with zero mean and unit standard deviation. Also called standardized value, standardized variable.
