occupied space
Definition
Working warehousing units that are currently in use. No additional merchandise can be physically stored in these areas until the items present are removed. A certain percentage of occupied space becomes available over fairly predictable time spans in many warehouse environments. Therefore, occupied space represents a potential for future storage.
