Definition
Additional financial compensation for any hours worked by nonexempt staff over the amount of forty hours per week. A U.S. based business currently owes its eligible staff overtime pay at the rate of one and a half times their usual pay rate, and such extra pay for overtime is delivered at the same time as the employee's regular pay.
