patch
Definition
Small program (set of computer code) that modifies one or more files of an erratic ('buggy') software as an attempt to make it behave better. Patches, however, often generate their own bugs which require new patches ... and so the cycle continues, generating jobs for the programmers and sales for the software publishers.
