permanent virtual circuit (PVC)
Definition
Dedicated logical channel that is 'permanently' defined in the routing tables of a physical network as a circuit. Once defined, a PVC does not need any set up or disconnect operation for data transmission, and is used in packet-switched networks such as frame relay and TCP/IP.
