personal communications network (PCN)
Definition
Digital wireless (mobile) telephone system designed to use inexpensive receivers and low-power antennas. Intended for city-wide communications, it offers rates lower than those of cellular networks, cheap pocket phones with much longer battery-life and (because all such networks will operate in the same frequency band) usable anywhere PCN services are offered.
