Definition
Process commonly used in large-scale waste water treatment plants. 'Physical' treatment usually includes air-stripping and filtration, 'chemical' treatment includes chlorination, coagulation, and ozonization. This term may also refer to treatment of toxic waste in surface and ground waters, oil spills, and the soil.
