physical standard
Definition
Non-monetary, quantitative measure of requirements in a production process. Physical standards provide (1) measurements that serve as basis for planning, scheduling, and control of production, (2) means of determining labor, material, and machine requirements, (3) means of estimating workloads in relation to plant capacity, and (4) basis for determining standard costs used in cost control and estimating budgets.
