Definition
Event that triggers a significant change in the price of an asset. For example, a disappointing report on consumer spending might become a price ratchet that triggers a sharp decline in the stock market. Or a political crisis in the Middle East might become a price ratchet that triggers a sharp increase in the price of oil.
