protector
Definition
In the US practice, a third-party appointed (normally through a trust deed) to guide the trustee(s) in carrying out their duties as the trust's grantor intended. The protector cannot have wide authority or powers, but usually has enough influence to deter trustees from violating the letter or the spirit of the trust deed.
