Definition
A department which has the primary goal of protecting the public and keeping them safe. Countries can have a public safety department as part of the government, as can states or even local governments. Colleges and other large organizations can also have public safety divisions. In many cases, a public safety division is comprised of individuals from many other organizations, including police, EMS, and public transportation officials.
