Definition
Legal document provided by an environmental consultant that assesses the conditions of a possibly contaminated piece of property. This report is typically provided to a potential buyer or lender of the property. A number of agencies recommend that buyers or lenders get other environmental assessments in addition to the reliance letter because some contamination issues may not be identified in the original letter.
