replenishment cycle
Definition
Recurring process flow from the time one order is placed to the time the next order must be placed to replenish depleted inventory. The replenishment cycle may be triggered at any point of the production, distribution, or sales cycle depending on what works best for a specific industry. For example, a business may wish to have the replenishment cycle recur while there is still enough stock on hand to meet orders for the next 30 days; or it may put off replenishment until a specific minimum order quantity is reached.
