revenue cap regulation
Definition
A form of price control applied to companies that are considered to be regulated monopolies, such as utility companies, in which the amount of revenue that can be generated is based on increases in the Consumer Price Index. In the case of utilities, efficiency savings incentives can potentially increase the cap.
