sector rotation
Definition
The process of selling investments in one type of business to purchase holdings in one or more different types in which the investor sees greater profit potential. Sector rotation can be prompted by fundamental changes in the economy or within specific industries, or it can be part of a systematic investment strategy that follows cyclical or seasonal price patterns.
