secure option ARM
Definition
Type of adjustable rate mortgage that includes a period that has a fixed interest rate. A secure option ARM usually starts with a low interest rate for the first few months. Then the interest rate increases somewhat and remains fixed until the first "recast," a recalculation of payments that usually occurs after five years.
