service aisle
Definition
The open space in front of a shelf or between rows of shelving that allows space for a user to add, remove, or rearrange stock-keeping units (SKUs). A service aisle may be fixed with a static storage system. Or, a mobile storage or racking system may permit the creation of one or two "floating" service aisles as needed to save space.
