Definition
A document that allows a customer to take possession of shipped goods before the shipping company receives the bill of lading, indemnifying the shipping company from any loss in case the customer fails to pay. Shipping guarantees are typically arranged by banks, which require a cash margin or other assurance of payment from the customer.
